Cafe Coyote

If you Google, "tortilla lady California" the first thing you will find is Cafe Coyote in San Diego.

A landmark in historic Old Town San Diego, Cafe Coyote is known for making delicious handmade tortillas to the tune of about 1,500 per day! Add to that, a certified "Tequila House" with more than 120 tequila options and there is no question why this popular spot is so successful.

If there is a line, don't be discouraged. You can get yourself some tortillas at their sidewalk side walk-up to take home or to munch on while you stroll around the many shops or wait to dine. With an abundance of space, your wait will be short and before you know it, you'll be seated and enjoying a drink and some torts!

Cheap not cheap

This very affordable pitcher of Skinny Cadillac uses premium alcohol, fresh simple ingredients and is delicious. Not using a commercial sweet and sour mix means that there is no syrupy bite at the back of your throat. The drinks are light and citrusy with a smooth tequila flavor that is dangerous... They go down like water!

More pork please!

I originally ordered chili verde but after asking me if I wanted to try something truly special and pork-tastic, she suggested I get this trio of chili verde, carnitas and chili colorado and boy was I glad she did! The pork was cooked perfectly in each offering, you know, when it's fatty in a good way and has that sticky tack to it that if you get it on your fingers they'll be stuck together like glue. The flavors were on point, you could definitely pickup the differences in each dish. The beans and rice were wonderful and of course, you get those homemade tortillas along with it!
